TEHRAN -- A German translation of the Holy Quran by Rudi Paret dating from 1962 has been republished by Al-Hoda International Publications in Iran.

The Holy Quran was first translated into German in 1772, but Goethe described it as a weak and incomprehensible text, and it is said that he wished that he could introduce a precise translation.
The translation of the Islamic scientist Paret (1901-1983) is however a much better work.
It contains a list of German-Arabic phonetics in the preface and an introduction by Iran’s cultural attaché in Berlin
